Rizz’s Trailer Park Reviews Ep. 3: ASSEMBLE!

Do you guys like Diablo? Do you guys like superheros? Really?! What if I told you that the creator of Diablo 1, 2 and 3 will soon release a free-to-play MMO that features your FAVORITE superhero from Marvel. What?! You don’t believe me!? Take a look at this!

Believe me now?!

The first thing that you should realize when watching that trailer is that the first three superheroes that you see are a part of that one Marvel movie masterpiece…I forget what it’s called…um…OH YEAH! THE AVENGERS! Smooth move by the developers and the creators of the trailer to know a jackpot when they see it. Also, the next Hero they show is Spiderman, who is also coming out with a new movie and a new game himself.

The other Heroes that are in this game trailer include: Colossus and Wolverine from X-Men, Deadpool, Hulk (Avengers, yet again).

Overall, the gameplay looks like any other MMO (expected since the creator of Diablo is the one who is backing this project). However, I do have to mention that for a free-to-play MMO this game looks better than other Free to Plays (see: the jaunty controls and the jumpy graphics of Family Guy Online MMO).

Also, what’s a good Marvel game without the EVIL SIDE? The villains that are featured in this game trailer are Magneto and a giant Sentinel from X-Men and…oh yeah…Doctor Victor von Doom. I want to play as Dr. Doom. Can I play as Dr. Doom!? Please? I would love to play as Dr. Doom. No?! Oh man, did I mention that Dr. Doom’s presence as the MAIN VILLAIN is quite awesome? No? Well, Dr. Doom as the main villain is awesome.

Other than the sad news that Dr. Doom is NOT a playable character (yet), there are some weird qualms I have with this trailer. First of all, they only picked a select handful of Heroes. In fact, I had to go on the website to find out a list of the Heroes (even though they don’t have a FULL roster). The rest of the names, that didn’t make the cut for the first gameplay trailer of the MMO were: Cable, Cyclops (X-Men, one of my personal favorite heroes), Emma Frost, Ms. Marvel, Thor (Oh look! Avengers)  and Thing.

Why just announce Thing and not Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and the Human Torch? I mean, you already announced the main characters in the Avengers (sorry Hawkeye) and the X-Men (Still waiting on Gambit, though, I would love to throw cards to kill people with). Why not just announce the Fantastic Four as a group?

Also wasn’t there an MMO Marvel had not too long ago? Marvel Ultimate Alliance was an MMO that featured all the memorable characters in the Marvel universe. Eh. It’s a free game and a free game that looks this good needs to be tried, at least, once.
