Be Nice to Mega Man

Growing up a gamer, I think one series defined me as a gamer early on. Mega Man was my favorite series of games as a kid. I beat 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as soon as I played them. I don’t know what it was about the series that drew me in but it really molded me as a gamer, and the geek that I am today. I used to draw Mega Man levels. Robot masters, you name it I was all about it. When the series evolved I evolved along with it. The Mega Man X series was great, I remember getting mad at my dad for erasing my Mega Man Legends save file on Playstation. Mega Man 8 on Playstation was awesome and the recent arcade titles Mega Man 9 and 10 brought that old school feel back to the series. This brings me to what Mega Man has recently become in the eyes of the company that Mega Man helped mold in to what it is today.

Capcom has turned their back on Mega Man. In October 2010 Mega Man’s co-creator left the company stating that he didn’t want to settle, that he wanted to create more games. Since then Capcom has cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 which was set to come out for the Nintendo 3DS, and put Mega Man in Street Fighter X Tekken. The latter seems amazing right? Wow Mega Man in a fighting game against Tekken and Street Fighter Characters… normally this would be a great thing; however it was the version of Mega Man that they used. The Fat Mega Man from the poorly designed cover of Mega Man for the NES. This coupled by the fact that Mega Man was left off of Marvel vs Capcom 3 in favor of Zero and Tron Bonne. I’m putting the video of Mega Man’s embarrassing story in the game just so you can see how far our pint sized hero has fallen in the eyes of Capcom.

Capcom you could be a little nicer to the little blue guy that helped mold your company into one of the biggest video game publishers today. The Gameplay, Music, and just sheer epicness of Mega Man are at stake, and I think you should be more careful with your properties in the near future. Fans of Mega Man and Capcom are your real concern here.
