Chachi Says: That email address again is askchachisays@gmail.com ,Let the fun begin!

Some How Thanks just isnt enough.

1 puppy.

36 mins.

1 soon to be happy family.

11:02 am, my boss sent me an email with an adorable lil puppy. Asking if we(my roommates and i) have room for just one more lil fur ball of cuteness.

Having 4 dogs already, unfortunately did not have the room.  So i took to the “streets” .

By streets i mean internet, and by internet i mean twitter.

i sat and watched as retweet after retweet came through and as dm after dm came through.

i ended up finding not one, but three different people willing to take Rex. (thats what im calling him from here on in.)

so first come first serve applied. And 36 mins in Rex has a home. the drop off will take place tomorrow.

Chachi Says:

Im so happy that i was able to save Rex. and so happy that i could grant someone another happy edition to their family. However i couldnt have done it without the help of my Tweeps and their Tweeps. So from the bottom of my heart, Thank You.

My Weekend with Creation Rex (aka Rexy)

So this past weekend i had the pleasure of being a substitute handler for Creation Rex. I filled in for Norm who took a much needed weekend off.

Now, Norm out of his own judgement did not leave me with his handy dandy Tranq gun, because lets be honest who would.

But turns out i really didn’t need one, “but how did you control rex, Chachi?” is the question most of you have after that statement.

Well, it turns out that Rexy( thats my pet name for him) and i have alot of the same wants and hobbies.

We were sitting around saturday and the conversation went a lil something like this.

Rex: So Fleshmound, what do you usually do on saturdays?

Me: well first you shouldnt call me fleshmound. Second, i usually just hang out and play quake.

Rex: Wait, you caused the earthquakes???

Me: Of course not Barney.

Rex: what did i tell you about that fleshmound….

Me: Not to do it. Anyhow, Quake is an online first person shooter where you get together with others and take out your frustrations with fictional guns.

Rex: Oh, I dont like guns, Norm shoots me in the rear with them and i fall asleep. That doesnt sound like fun at all.

Me: well, what do you want to do then?

Rex: well i saw this billy madison moving picture show the other day and i kinda wanted to try something i saw….

Well, you can prolly guess where it went from there. We were gonna do Luke’s house but A. Couldnt find it. and B. didnt know what would happen if we used Dino poo. So we tried a test house and well, lets just say it took a while for the police to stop look for us.

Chachi Says: who knew that would happen? all i know is anytime Norm wants a weekend off. I’ll gladly fill in for him!

Damn Dude, that Girl is fiiiiiineee.

Happy Wintereenmas one and all! it is finally the greatest week and my favorite week of the year.  Today marks the start of a week long blog exchanging video game themed series from @sorgatron (www.sorgatron.com) and I.

Today’s topic is what video game character we believe to be the finest in the land.

I had several ideas as to who i thought this could be.  Princess Peach, Nah to dependent.  Carman Sandeigo nah too klepto.  Then it hit me.

My choice is non other than Princess Zelda!

Now here is a beautiful, strong, intelligent women. Sure she needed rescued a couple times but honestly who doesnt. However after that she learned to take care of herself Doubt me? Oh, then you must not remember this. Sheik! or Princess Zelda with super bad ass Ninja training. So not only do we have a hot ass princess who is more intelligent than alot of the other damsels out there this one is super hero like with the skillz of a ninja. Winner all around!

Chachi Says: So lets recap, Royalty: Check! Sexy: Check! Smart: Check! Bad Ass Super Hero like Ninja: ahhhh hellls yeah!

eat it sorg!

Now run along and see what Sorg posted: www.sorgatron.com

The Adventures of the Amazing Chachi.

When we last joined our hero is was in an epic battle with the evil sectaires of the steel castle.

Confession time here at Chachi Says.  You better sit down for this.

Im not a huge comic fan…… See if you were sitting down you wouldnt have collapsed from that statement.

Now  i have nothing but the utmost respect for the people who create comics, from the writer all the way down to the Inker *cough cough Tracer Cough Cough.* Im kidding.

The art is usually amazing and the stories are filled with amazing twists and turns but i think it’s the drawn outness that doesnt do it for me. The waiting in between chapters.   The paying of 3-5 dollars to get a 10 -20 page book. (Now before you start defending the noble art of Comics, let me finish. ) Why would i go through all of that when i can pick up a very thick book, sit down and read the adventure from start to finish, with Closure.

However, i sat down and i started thinking about why i havent read comics, why i never made an attempt myself to pick up some of the books and check them out.  Then i realized that i was wrong.    i realized that not all of the comics continue week to week. and that some have deep touching tales to tell. I.E. Pride of Baghdad  Amazon gave a description of this

“In the spring of 2003, a pride of lions escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during an American bombing raid. Lost and confused, hungry but finally free, the four lions roamed the decimated streets of Baghdad in a desperate struggle for their lives. In documenting the plight of the lions, Pride of Baghdad raises questions about the true meaning of liberation – can it be given, or is it earned only through self-determination and sacrifice? And in the end, is it truly better to die free than to live life in captivity?”

It was a great read. Loved every second of it.

So if you need me, I’ll be the full grown adult male, in a dress shirt, dress pants, black plastic glasses, sitting on a park bench reading this:

CIVILWAR001

Chachi Says: huh, guess you can judge a book by more then its cover..

Bonus Guest Post! Guest Post 6: Uncle Crappy!

Well Today was supposed to be a post by just me after a week of having some great guest post, but then out of no where late wednesday, i was approached with an offer, an offer i could not in any state of mind refuse. Uncle Crappy (www.unclecrappy.com ) said i have this idea. i would like to put www.chachisays.com, go for it i said!

So here it is Guest Post 6: The bonus round! Uncle Crappy!

I’m not sure how long Chachi has lived here, but this is the start of my 15th football season in Pittsburgh

Yeah, it probably makes more sense to mark the passage of time in years, but c’mon — this is Stiller Country, for crying out loud, and when you’re a fan of the enemy, you can’t escape the constant reminders that from August through January, you don’t quite belong here.

Actually, that’s not quite accurate either. Chachi and I are both life-long fans of the Cleveland Browns, the team that used to be the enemy around here. But the Browns have been so bad for so long that they’ve been supplanted by the Ravens as the big-deal rival around here. But when I moved to western Pennsylvania, the Ravens didn’t exist and the Browns were still somewhat relevant, even playing the Stillers in a first-round playoff game that first season.

That’s when it was fun. I remember seeing a front-page photo of Vinny Testaverde hanging in effigy from the Smithfield Street Bridge. I had fellow drivers flipping me off every chance they had, all because I had a Browns flag on my car. And if I wore a Browns jersey in public? I have to say I was always impressed by the displays of vocabulary directed my way.

That’s how it should be, and for one season, it was. But the following year, The Rat Bastard Who Shall Not Be Named But Had Better Not Ever Make It Into The Hall Of Fame Or I’m Going To Be Heading To Canton With A Truckload Of Molotov Cocktails yanked my team out of Cleveland and completely sucked the fun out of my autumn Sunday afternoons. I was excited when the team returned in 1999, even though I knew it would be a while before the football universe was restored to its usual balance. I just didn’t think it would take this long.

Thanks to the Browns’ inept owners, coaches and players, the Cleveland-Pittsburgh rivalry is on life-support. If I put the Browns flag on my car, no one even notices. If I wear a jersey outside my house, I get sympathetic smiles instead of profanity-laced tirades. These days, my Stiller-fan friends even talk wistfully about the way things used to be, and Mrs. Crappy — my own wife and the Stiller fan with whom I share my home — says that Browns-Stillers games are no longer fun.

Sigh. Another season is about to begin. I wish I could say I had hope that things will be different, but I’m expecting another six or seven-win year for my Brownies — another lost season, and another step closer to losing the best rivalry in pro football forever.

jerseyforchach

Here’s a picture of me in my Bernie Kosar jersey. Could one of you Stiller fans tell me to go fuck myself? You know, for old time’s sake? I’d feel a lot better.

Chachi’s Notes: I have been in pittsburgh for 5 or 6 football seasons, and UC is completely right. There was a time where i was afraid to leave my house wearing brown and orange. Not anymore. and while i like wearing my colors outside, i miss the friendly hostility when it comes to this great sport. i miss the good ole days.

Guest 4: Dawn

Guest Post 4! Dawn Papuga

Here is yet another one of my favorite blogging people. Dawn is the author and owner of www.dawnpapuga.com. Where her colorful rants and metaphors are enough to brighten anyday. Dawn is one of the most knowledgable people i know, whether it be video games, books, comics, mma, doesnt matter. I love the book suggestions she gives to me(no matter how screwed up the book is. and no matter how scared of my house i am! see that Dawn i made a funny! )

No she is one of the best people i know.  so here is her post!

I bet you’re expecting me to rant, aren’t you?  You can admit it.  I’ve come to terms with it.  It’s who I am.  It’s what I do.  I get it.

Sorry to disappoint, y’all.

When Chachi asked me to write a guest post for his blog, I was all “WOOOO!!!  Of course!  That’s AWESOME!”  And then when I sat down to write it I couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out what it was I wanted to say.

Should I talk about comic books and how Marvel has disappointed me in ways no half-skilled lover could ever hope to achieve?  Should I write about MMA, and how badly I need to contact Gina Carano to find out her exact workout schedule because who DOESN’T want a body like that?  (Also, being able to mostly protect myself from an angry Cyborg in a dark alley would be useful, ‘cause, you know… it could happen.  In Brazil.  Maybe….. Ahem.)  Should I talk about how excited I was when I suggested Chachi read House of Leaves and he loved it!!!  Or should I talk about how reading ChachiSays reminds me with every post why I value genuine, thoughtful, real people who write from their hearts?  Social media has been over run with “brands” and “marketing” and “labels” and presenting one face to the world while trying to find yet another place to just be yourself because now you never know who is reading your stuff (It’s called a D-I-A-R-Y folks, and we used to use these things called P-E-N-S…). Chachi hasn’t fallen prey to that tidal wave, and I’m glad I have him to remind me to just write from the heart.

This week of guest posting was instigated by the “What does Social Media Mean to You” meme going around for Podcamp Pittsburgh 4 (http://podcamppittsburgh.com), and when I thought about it, the things that came to mind all revolved around acceptance, creativity, collaboration, and genuine, “accept me for me,” friendship.  I got to thinking about how I actually met Chachi for the first time.  He held my skirt down for me while we all were standing outside to smoke during Ann’s 80’s Prom Birthday Bash.  Had it not been for Social Media, I would never have met Chachi, I would never have played on YinzTeam with him, and I would never have had the opportunity to talk books and video games with him.

On Wednesday this week “The-Blogger-Formerly-Known-As-PittGirl”  –Ginny Montanez—outted herself (http://thatschurch.com) in order to head off anyone exposing her identity.  I remember feeling sad that someone who had come to be such a fun part of the Social Media crowd in Pittsburgh wasn’t able to meet the people I had, people who surprise you in all the good ways—people like Chachi.  Now that she’s out and about, and now that I’m living in Baltimore, I hope she steps in to take good care of the Social Media crowd in Pittsburgh while I’m gone.  They’re a unique, intelligent, diverse group of people….

…no…

 Friends.

Dawn Chachi  says: The genius of Social Media is its ability to expand your world and experiences forever with a simple “Hello.” Social Media can help you find jobs, introduce you to the love of your life, or help you through a hard time if you let it.  Social Media stops being “social” when you only use it to sell yourself, your company, or a service.
