#N7Day News and Notes – Mass Effect: Andromeda Teaser Trailer

This day started off like any other N7 (November 7th) day. Woke up and, well, checked my Twitter for the latest news and information on one of my favorite game series in years. They did not fail to deliver the goods.

Here’s the teaser trailers to Mass Effect: Andromeda.

This gave me literal chills. The hype that I have for Fallout 4 is now surpassed by the hype that I feel for Mass Effect Andromeda. Also…LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN, BOYS AND GIRLS! For those that don’t know (AND I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU WOULDN’T KNOW THIS) that’s FemShep “passing the torch” and signing off. Honestly, this does nothing but prove my point that somewhere in that dangum universe/galaxy you will meet some of the crew of the Normandy, if not Shepard.

“Holiday 2016″ can’t come soon enough for this one.

EA at E3 2015 recap

This is Brother Sorg once again and I’m here to bring you today’s details from EA’s press conference at E3 2015.

Mass Effect Andromeda

EA kicked off with a Teaser trailer for a Next Gen Mass Effect subtitled Andromeda.

Need for Speed

First up was the new Need for Speed, mentioned as a definitive experience that brings together modes and styles from past titles. Five campaigns having different play styles. Speed, Build, Crew, Style and Outlaw. This one comes out 11.3.2015

Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire

Next up is an expansion to Biowares next expansion to their Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, showing off a shiny new trailer.

Release, 10.27.2015

Unravel

A cute little puzzle platformer following a protagonist made of yarn.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

GW2 changes the perspective of the game and takes the fight to  the Zombies home, Zomberbia, as they try and defend their home from the plants. Also, theres a Zombie Super Hero, Super Brains.

EA Sports

As always, EA shows off their sports franchises, NHL, NBA, FIFA and Madden, adding some new features to each of them.

Mobile Games

Ea then moved into mobile games, announcing two new games. The first they announced was Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Second was Minions Paradise, the minions are stuck on an island and its up to you to turn it into the vacation they wanted.

Mirrors Edge: Catalyst

The story follows the origin story of the original game’s protagonist, Faith. This prequel will sport an open world to traverse through the city however you like, unlike the separate levels of the original game. It will release early next year on 2.23.2016

Starwars Battlefront

Battlefront was the final game shown off, and it looks amazing. The developers got access to Lucas Arts vault and have recreated everything faithfully to the origional movies to every little detail. From armor, weapon and vehicle design to the way everything sounded in the demo, it seemed like nothing but a faithful recreation of the Star Wars universe. It will drop on 11.17.2015.

The presentation started strong but did get a little boring towards the middle with Sports and Mobile games, lowest point was when Pele came out for Fifa and they had a 10 minute conversation not even related to video games. But it did end strong with Mirrors Edge, Madden, and the one everyone was waiting for, Battlefront.

Mobile Monday Review: Peggle Blast!

Ladies and Gents, Welcome to this week’s edition of Mobile Monday Review: Peggle Blast! I was looking around for something to play and its been a while since i played a former Pop cap game and believe it or not i have never played Peggle in any form. So here we are! Mobile Monday Review: Peggle Blast!

titleGame: Peggle Blast
Developer: Electronic Arts
Platforms: Android, iOS

Object:
Use your limited amount of balls to clear the orange pegs.

Game play:

Using ten balls, avoid obstacles to rack up the points as you remove all of the orange pegs per level. Like games of this type you get 5(or 6 lives if you connect your Facebook account) before you run out and have to wait for them to regenerate over hours. 15 levels per section for you to play before you start panhandling to your face book friends for tickets to move on to the next section or you can purchase the in game coins to redeem for power ups, access to new sections, or wasting them on one off power ups to help you complete the hellish level that you are stuck on.

gp1Joining Bjorn on his journey through Peggle land and meet his friends such as Pearl the octopus and Jimmy Lightning the squirrel who show you how to rack up points with the power ups and introduce you to new obstacles that get in your way. Locked bricks, fireballs, swinging walls and the likes await you. If that wasn’t enough Bjorn’s evil brother Fnord comes along to challenge you to head to heads and mixes things up just when you get used to it. The play is simple aim, shoot and pray. That is all you can do in this game. You can try strategy but it wont work.

gp3Sound and Graphics:

The bright colors and cartoony graphics are enjoyable at any age. The slight animation in the power ups and minor character animation could’ve been enhanced to include more overall, however they are great. The music and sound effects in the game are done well but gets annoying quickly. I mean 1 game quick. So you’ll want to turn those off.

Overall:

Overall, everything comes together nicely in this package, however with the music getting annoying, the lack of major animation, and the low amount of levels per section really really hurt this game. I give this game a 3 out of 5.

Fav Five Friday: Games To Look For This E3*

*That we already know will be announced.

E3 is inching so close to us we can taste it. In fact, we are three months away from E3 and somewhere Gabe Newell just had a heart attack.

However, let us not waste precious time! June is right around the corner and THIS is your top 5 games to watch forat this year’s E3 event.

Now, the rules are different. Instead of listing 5 things, I am actually going to pick one from each major category (EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony). Let’s begin,  shall we?

minecraft_storymode_logo

MICROSOFT – Minecraft: Story Mode. For those of you who don’t know, Minecraft is now the property of Microsoft so I would not be surprised if this game gets announced at Microsoft’s E3. Also, it will be interesting to see how this game will look and feel, being it’s a story based game based off of a game that’s a free world based game.

uc4-logo

SONY – Uncharted 4. This will be needed for a good E3 for Sony, as it was learned earlier this week that Uncharted’s release date was pushed back to 2016. Which blows. Hard. Maybe show some Beta footage along with a commercial. Get me excited to play this game, as I never had a PlayStation when Uncharted was a thing. It will be interesting to see how they turn this negative into a positive.

Zelda-wii-u-link-720

NINTENDO – (TIE) Zelda and Star Fox. Nintendo has hyped both of these games to no end ever since they were playing the open world Zelda game. I believe this is the time where Nintendo comes out guns a-blazing and shows us EVERYTHING about these two games. I want more, of course. Instead of watching some guy watch a green screen pretending he’s playing, play the game. DO A BARRELL ROLL! Oh God, I hope I actually get to play as Fox this time from the beginning and not ride a pterodactyl or something.

UBISOFT – Guess. I will give you three easy guesses on what I’m excited to see more information about. Show me something from Assassin’s Creed: Victory and my money will be tossed in your general direction, Ubisoft…it’s…it’s probably west. Do I need to tell you how Assassin’s Creed is going to be once Ubisoft announce it and show things from it? Hopefully no bugs, though. We don’t want that. I mean, look at England. LOOK AT IT!

ELECTRONIC ARTS: Mass. Effect. Four. Mass. Effect. Four. Mass. Effect. Four. Last year all we had was conception art, if this year is gameplay footage I will not be able to control my body. At all. I don’t expect gameplay, as it’s still quite possibly in the early early stages of development but man…I am a big Mass Effect fan and I don’t even know what to expect from this game. Do my choices in the first three games matter? Is Shepard in this? Is he not? Is this a prequel? Sequel? Do I play as a Prothean? Gah! Just tell me already!

Video game themed things from around the Internet…net…net!

People of the Internet, Lend me your ears and join me on my journey of a few things I found while browsing the ‘net this week! It’s time for this week’s edition of Video game themed things from around the Internet…net…net!

First off this week, We revisit the “Tiny Titan”. This glitch that I pointed out last week featured a player in Madden being programmed as 1’2” tall in game. Since the glitch has been fixed, however not before EA took full advantage of the mistake. After patching the issue they had a weekend full of defensive challenges with the Tiny player. They also did this new trailer for Madden.

Way to go EA(not too often we get to say that!), good job using the mistake as a social media marketing tool!

Next up, tribute to Robin Williams number 8,923,712,943 done by a user in Art academy

williamsIt’s probably one of the best out there.

Last but not least this week. As you know(or don’t )the Fine Bros have a react series of videos of kids reacting to different things. This week its Teens react to the Nintendo!

They brought up Legend of Zelda and I cringed at their reactions. I dislike kids. We are so old.

That’s all I have for you for this week on Video game themed things from around the Internet…net…net! Tune in next week as I teach you how to fly!

BioWare’s Shadow Realms Announced

In Germany, Microsoft, EA and Bioware released a trailer for their new game that they hinted was going to happen during E3. Here is your first look at Shadow Realms, a fantasy 4-on-1 online multiplayer RPG set in a modern-day fantasy world.

That not good enough? Okay. How about the 4 minute gameplay video from IGN?

If this is the finished product, and it probably isn’t because there seems to be some rough edges that needs to be smoothed out (yes, I am aware that I am watching A VIDEO or A TELEVISION playing A VIDEO GAME), I don’t seem very impressed with Bioware/EA. This is a shocker for me because, as you all know, I am a huge Mass Effect fan and talking bad about a Bioware made game hits me right in the feels but this just seems to miss the point for me.

Maybe it’s the hype. I mean, remember this got a preview at E3!

videoimage

THE GUY’S HEAD IS SMOKING! IT’S SMOKING! SOMETHING BIG SHOULD BE HAPPENING! And then the gameplay kinda fizzled out.

Maybe I just have to actually play it to get a better feel to it, but I feel like we know BioWare for its’ storyline development (see: DragonAge; see: Mass Effect) and, now, it’s just a 4-on-1 online battle mode which looks like a Diablo clone. I hope I am wrong. I hope I am. BioWare has my money for the new Mass Effect, they know that. But it just seems like one of those situations where the 4-on-1 online game seems like it was awesome on paper (I mean, you guys get to play AS THE ONE WHO CONTROLS THE ENTIRE WORLD that your four opponents try to destroy. YOU PLAY THE EVIL DOER!), yet when you see the product live and in color, it looks totally different than what you imagined it being.

What are your guys thoughts about this game? Are you excited? Concerned? Picking it up later this or next year? Leave it in the comments below

E3: Don’t Be Shocked If No Mass Effect 4 News

Before you go all crazy on me about this one, let me please explain. The Mass Effect series is one of the best series that I have played over and over again. I enjoyed my time playing as Shepard and being the horndog that he (or she) was. The Mass Effect series is a gem and if you haven’t played it yet, stop reading this and play it…then come back.

Would I enjoy playing a new Mass Effect? Yeah. Would I be angry if they do announce it at E3? Hell no! Do I want it RIGHT NOW THIS VERY INSTANT?! If they announce it, yes. But I won’t be angry if they don’t.

The fact of the matter is, they don’t need to rush into things. The people over at EA and BioWare have other things that they need to worry about, i.e. DragonAge. An announcement of a Mass Effect game would overshadow their bigger game. They don’t need to rush into announcing anything concerning the Normandy (almost said Shepard, then got sad knowing he’s not going to be in this one). Not to mention, the last time EA and BioWare worked on a Mass Effect game, you guys knew what happened then: Electronic Arts won two Golden Poo awards and had to change their ending because of the petition that was filed by angry Mass Effect fans.

EA and BioWare know that they have a huge and dedicated fan base, they know that they have to make this game pop and make the fans forget about how angry they were with Mass Effect 3’s ending. They must get this game right and they must know what they’re doing before they do it so they don’t have deja vu.

Heck, we’re not even sure if “Mass Effect 4″ is the right title. It could be something completely different and out there. We don’t know.

My guess is if they do announce the new Mass Effect game next week (Remember, they have three chances to do so [EA, Microsoft and Sony]), it’s going to be announced around the same time as the new Mass Effect movie will come out so that they can get as much buys as they can get so as close as they can get to the Mass Effect: The Movie hits theaters, the more money EA will make (and we all know that Electronic Arts likes their money *cough*DAYONEDLC!*cough*.

Just give it time, people. Mass Effect will come. When it does, it will be awesome. Whether it is next week or next month or next year. It’s coming.

Games you may have missed: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

KingdomsOfAmalur

Many of us gamers play a lot of games, I was looking through how many games I played in 2013 thanks to raptr and played 60 games, that’s a lot.  In 2012 I played 69 games which is insane, but there were a few I missed over the years in the X-box 360/PS3 Generation of consoles, and I’m sure there are a few that you missed.  That’s where this little series of articles comes in, Every now and again I’m going to spotlight a game that might have been missed and why you should give it a chance, and we’re going to start with a very underrated action RPG called….

KINGDOMS OF AMALUR: RECKONING

KINGDOMSTitle

Kingdoms of Amalur was released on February 7, 2012.  It was released for the Xbox 360, The PS3 and PC.  The game was created by 38 Studios which was a company that was owned by former MLB star pitcher Curt Schilling and released by EA and Big Huge Games, It’s an action RPG that’s full of gameplay and huge moments, with a story written by Fantasy Author R.A. Salvator.  You are a character that has no destiny, you must travel through Amalur and forge a destiny for yourself against the forces of evil.

Why you should play it: It’s a great RPG for those that like games like Fable, or The Legend of Zelda series of games, yet different enough to stand on it’s own as a great game.  The sad thing is that the franchise will probably not come back due to the financial  and legal troubles of 38 Studios, a promising franchise that will probably never continue on, unless someone buys the IP from the state of Rhode Island, which owns it currently.  That being said, there’s more than enough gameplay to stretch the game out past it’s sell by date.  I recently purchased this game and wished I had done so sooner.  The graphics are kind of like World of Warcraft with a cartoonish feel to them, but you won’t have to put up with anyone if you don’t really like to play MMO’s.  That in a nutshell is a great reason to pick up this game, it’s an MMO that’s not an MMO, and the closest thing to World of Warcraft for us console gamers.

So if you pick up the game, let me know what you think, or if you’ve played it, why not recommend it to another gamer if you like the game.  What are some games you think people missed out on playing in this console cycle, let us know in the comments!

Nhl ’94 is coming out of retirement

nhl14-94

Debatably one of the greatest NHL games ever released is making a comeback. Its coming out of retirement and revitalizing its former glory. EA Canada has announced that one of the game play modes on the upcoming NHL 14 will be a redone NHL 94 mode. The latest game in the series currently being developed is being retooled to update the collision physics adapted from FIFA 13.

The only truly confusing thing about this entire addition to the game is their desire to not have the game mode playable online. Undoing all of the progress of what im deeming the Live era. Their reasoning? Recreating the social aspect of “couch buddies” making game time an in person game time once again. While I understand their reasoning behind this but I think it should be both. What do I know though? Im just a fan!
What are your thoughts?
