Gamers give back.

If you are aware of who i am and what i do…… so i’m a fan of when gamers give back to those who need it. so here is a couple of give back situations that caught my eye.

First up is the most recent Humble Bundle called the Double Fine bundle:

Pay what you want for the beloved and hilarious platformer Psychonauts, the matryoshka doll epic adventure Stacking, and the adorable adventure/RPG Costume Quest. If you pay over the average, you’ll also get the heavy metal action/adventure/RTS rocker Brütal Legend!

That’s not all though. With a 35 dollar donation you become a backer for a kickstarter to help create a Click and Point game called Broken Age. 70 dollars will get you all of the above and a limited edition T shirt. Also, as always with the Humble Bundle you pick the price, pay more than the average and unlock more! You get the soundtracks with the games and they are DRM free. Bundle buyers can also benefit two amazing charities: the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Child’s Play Charity Go over to and get yours today!

And then theres this:

So two great events for a few great charities!

Bootleggers get a taste of their own medicine.

Game company Greenheart Games recently released a new game. Game Dev Tycoon. While that isn’t new or exciting since the concept has been visited and revisited. My go to version being Kairosofts so obviously the game isn’t the news i’m covering.

The story here is that Greenheart struck back against internet piraters. Along with the release of their game they also released a torrent bootleg copy of their game….call it market research. Oh wait, theres a catch!

They may have released the game with a slight change….

Oh… well… looks like it gave them a taste of their own medicine. However, Apparently this didn’t stop the pirates from taking to the message boards to find out how to progress. They used a tracker that they implanted in the pirate game to track how many stole the game vs. buying.
93.6% of the users stole the game in comparison to 6.4% purchasing. thats 3104 pirates and 214 sales.

I applaud the company for sticking it to the pirates and you should too. While pirating is something that is going to keep happening it makes it very hard for little guys to break in.

Alright, Got that out of the way? Good. Now, while I don’t feel their video approach is exactly what they were looking for, the over all concept is good.

In this day and age, as covered by us here in the past online gaming isn’t exactly an inviting place for the LGBT community what with all the gay bashing on xbox live and other gaming services by 12 year olds who think that calling someone (pardon the use but notice the quotes) “Faggot” and other slurs that are hurtful in nature is quite alright because its online and no one is hurt by things said online…..

My person opinion of this event is that I think it needs to happen. Who knows how many LGBT have been discouraged from gaming simply because of things that were said to them while playing. Why not have a con where LGBT and LGBT supporters can come together and have a hate free weekend where everyone just sits back and has a good time celebrating something that the majority of people love. Gaming.

Don’t get me wrong, honestly this is the least of the issues that the LGBT community is facing at the present time and I could spend a post supporting other things that they should be able to do, but I wont.

So if you know someone who is LGBT or are a supporter of the LGBT community, show them this and have them pass it on to someone who may appreciate what these people are trying to do. Although, they have met their goal rather quickly, they still have 24 days to go so support it and make the conference better. You can do that and check their rewards right here.

Once again, EA is confused

Dear EA,

” You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

Once again, you are confused. At the same time, you are a normal game company so it all comes back around to you just being you.

EA President Frank Gibeau said in an interview regarding them going all digital: “It’s in the near future. It’s coming,” he said. “We have a clear line of sight on it and we’re excited about it. Retail is a great channel for us. We have great relationships with our partners there. At the same time, the ultimate relationship is the connection that we have with the gamer. If the gamer wants to get the game through a digital download and that’s the best way for them to get it, that’s what we’re going to do. It has a lot of enhancements for our business. It allows us to keep more that we make. It allows us to do some really interesting things from a service level standpoint; we can be a lot more personalized with what we’re doing.”

However, Later in the same interview he said:
“But if customers want to buy a game at retail Stores, they can do that too,” he continued. “We’ll continue to deliver games in whatever media formats make sense and as one ebbs and one starts to flow, we’ll go in that direction,”

Hey Frank, here are some other numbers you can use to make you seem like you know what you are talking about: 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% or any variation in between. Using the number 100% and then saying that you will still offer games at stores defeats what you say.

Do you think the console gaming world is ready for the companies to go 100% digital or are we ways away from that happening? Let us know in the comments below.

Splinter Cell Movie? is reporting that Ubisoft is in talks with Warner Bros, and Paramont Pictures(Front runner) about doing a Splinter Cell movie.

Out of the two Paramont has more experience dealing with Tom Clancy novels so they would be more familiar with the format and how they flow. There isn’t much details on this, Neither side would comment in details about the talks which makes perfect sense. However it is made clear that Ubisoft would be heavily involved in the movie to make sure the story stays as is.

This honestly isn’t something i would pick to have a movie made of, just another spy movie to me. So who knows how far these talks will go or how well a Splinter movie would do. There isn’t much to be lost in translation but lets see!

What do you think? Should they waste their time or is this going to be one of the few games that makes a decent selling picture? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting June 18th, it won’t be Pokemon as you know it!

Players Battle to Unite the Region of Ransei in a New Game Featuring Warlords, Warriors, Characters Inspired by Japanese History and Nearly 200 Pokémon starting June 18th, things are changing!

New and experienced fans of the Pokémon video game series are invited to embark on an entirely new role-playing adventure.  Pokémon Conquest launches for the  Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems on June 18. The game is also playable on  Nintendo 3DS in 2D mode, and challenges players to enter into battles across a variety of environments in the mythical region of Ransei. For the first time in the Pokémon franchise, players take on the role of Warlords who are linked with Pokémon, and must recruit allies to unite the kingdoms of Ransei and unleash the Legendary Pokémon. Developed by TECMO KOEI GAMES Co., Ltd., the game features nearly 200 Pokémon to battle and recruit, including many from the fan-favorite  Pokémon Black Version and  Pokémon White Version games.

In  Pokémon Conquest, the region of Ransei is divided into 17 distinct kingdoms – one for each of the 17 types of Pokémon. Players will be able to choose from 36 playable Warlords, each with its own unique storyline, and engage in a series of turn-based battles in which they can control Pokémon and Warriors. Battles can grow to include as many as 12 Pokémon in a six-on-six skirmish. Many battlefield victories will let players recruit more Warlords and Warriors and gain access to additional allies. Along the way, they will also encounter fascinating Warlords and Warriors inspired by the Japanese feudal era.

“Pokémon Conquest offers new adventures for fans of any experience level,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “By stepping into the role of a Warlord who must form alliances to unite the region, they can discover a whole new way to enjoy the strategic battles and imaginative storylines that the Pokémon franchise is known for.”

Pokémon Conquest  also includes a range of wildly different battle environments that can affect game play. For example, falling rocks or spouts of hot lava might influence how a battle unfolds, and choosing the correct Pokémon type can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Additionally, each playable Warlord has a special skill that can be used to help Pokémon on the battlefield.

To share the adventure of  Pokémon Conquest  with a friend, players can use a local wireless connection to face off in two-player battles. Each player must own his or her own Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS system and  Pokémon Conquest game card.

Mobile gaming ring controller?

So bumming around the net and i come across this device on that connects to your phone and allows you to have a new aspect in mobile gaming. im still unsure of my thoughts on it but here is the device explanation video. Its called the Ringbow!

Umm, wow. I guess it truly comes down to if it is actually useful in the aspect they say it is. An FPS would be the true test. The promotional video makes it look kind of cool but i’m not sure its 35-55 dollars cool. However each one will come with a pack of games so that you have something to play in case other developers decide its not worth the hassle.

They have a goal of 100,000 dollars to make this happen. You can check it out on their kickstart page
