Man, they are not good at all.

Last but not least

Rizz hit me with this “money glitch” on GTA

I wonder how many people actually fell for this…..

Rizz Rant: Super Smash Karts 8!

Being the only one of the writers to have obtained both a Wii U AND a copy of Mario Kart 8, when the new DLC packs were “leaked” earlier in the week, there was a part of me that was excited and then there was a part of me that was even more excited than I should be.

Knowing the awesomeness that comes in random DLCs like this, I started to think back and then I came up with the same answer that Guest Rizz DJ Lunchbox had on Boss Battle this past Tuesday: Why did it take so long?

Why are we just now getting the Super Smash/Mario Kart cross overs now? The two games have been mainstays for Nintendo since the glory days of the Nintendo 64 and each one got better and better and better, yet no one over in Nintendo thought of this? No one? Not even you, Reggie?!

For shame!

To gain business, one must do crossovers like this (see: Scorpion in Injustice) to get people’s attention. THAT’S WHY SUPER SMASH BROS. WORKS, PEOPLE! In this current game, you’re going to have Mega Man v. Pac Man v. Sonic v. Little Mac. That’s Capcom v. Namco v. SEGA v. Nintendo. Four of the biggest companies are NOW in YOUR GAME! Cross branding helps people buy your game.

FINALLY, though, Mario Kart and Nintendo is seeing their ways and know that Pink Metal Peach or driving a Mercedes through Rainbow Road. NOW YOU CAN PLAY AS LINK AND GET MORE EXCITED FOR THAT HYRULE WARRIORS GAME THAT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY DAMN GOOD TOO! MORE MONEY FOR NINTENDO!

However, it begs the question why did they stop it at Link and the Villagers (which sounds like an awesome Doo Wop band)? Kirby unavailable? Little Mac? You could throw him on an actual speedy bike that you don’t have to constantly press a button to move. Falcon? Star Fox? Pikachu? Get the whole gang out there! GO CRAZY!

Also if the rumors were true, I would have rather seen Dr. Mario and Nurse Peach in this game instead of Tanooki Mario and Peach in a kitty costume, I have just spoiled someone’s weird Dr. Mario fetish so I am going to stop right there before I have to look up Dr. Mario fan fiction. OR throw a curve and give us Metal Wario or Metal Waluigi.

So…what kept Nintendo this long to cross-promote on another game, like they did with Smash Brothers? Who would you like to see in the game? Leave it in the comments below.

Impa and Her Giant Sword Wins

Hyrule Warriors, the cross of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors, have been getting a ton of buzz around the Nintendo world, as it is Nintendo’s first Zelda game for the Wii U. It’s an interesting concept on paper and one that will be interesting to see how well it turns out. However, Nintendo is doing a damn good job promoting Hyrule Warriors by releasing character video after character video.

Here’s Link’s:

Here’s Zelda’s (by the way, in Hyrule Warriors she is now QUEEN ZELDA):

But the one person who, honestly, will get more playing time just based off of her trailer isn’t Link and it isn’t Zelda. IT’S THE BAD ASS THAT IS IMPA AND HER GIANT SWORD!

If anything, this may be my favorite character in the game and tremendously improved Impa’s image in Zelda lure. In both Skyward Sword and OoT you got the sense that she was a bad ass, but you barely see her in action…I don’t know about you but I want to get more background on Zelda’s protector. NOW I want an Impa only game! Nintendo can make this happen, for sure.

We know some of the playable characters in this, there are more playable characters to be announced. A name that is getting thrown around like Blasto being a playable character in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer is the one and only Tingle.

Who Are the Best Couples in Video Games?

Princesses to Squadmates,

Love has always been in the eye of the gamer and who doesn’t love a good story? So here are MY Top 5 video game couples. (NOTE: This is my personal list, this is not a list that you should get all up in arms about. Don’t get all bitchy if your couple didn’t make the list, just post it in the comments).

5. Commander Shepard and (enter Romance here) – It started with Mass Effect, as Male Shepard, you had your choice of human Ashley or Asari, Liara T’Soni. As Female Shepard, you also had your choice of Liara and, also, Kaidan. In Mass Effect 2, you had your choice of ANY character in the Mass Effect realm. You could be constant and stay with your choice from 1 or you can choose any of the opposite sex characters in the game…with the exception of Urgnot Grunt and Samara (kind of). In 3, the list just keeps growing. ANYONE ON THE NORMANDY! ANYONE with the exception of Joker, EDI (obviously) and the doctor.

Heck, even Samara loosens up a bit.

So with the compatibility of Commander Shepard, I have to rank him (with anyone) on this list. You can’t just pick one.

4. Mario and Princess Peach – Come on, you know for a fact this was making the list. But I’m quite sure you thought you wouldn’t see this on the list this close. It’s for the simple fact that Princess Peach is kind of a bitch.

Hear me out: She gets captured in Super Mario and you have to find her and in every castle besides the last one, whose there? TOAD! Blocking your way to your lady friend! Who is for sure that Toad didn’t have his way with the Princess before she moved on to the other castle?

His reaction to you coming into the castle tells the whole story. Also, why is he in his underwear and a vest with no shirt? EXPLAIN THAT!

You know what they say: Once you go shroom, there’s no room.

Also, what do we learn about Peach during Super Mario Brothers 2? SHE CAN FLOAT TO SAFETY! How come she didn’t use that against Bowser? Why did she need a man to begin with?

Yes, this is a classic love story video game but there have been better relationships in the past.

3. Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man – I never got why they never got hitched. You would think with names so similar that they would just change that Ms. to Mrs.

These two are the epitome of love. I mean, they have the same story and similar enemies. The two of theme hit it off in the Arcade probably around the 1980s and some balls were definitely eaten at that point and time (heh).

In love, you have to have similarities and differences and those two were the reason. I really hope they found love and Pacman put a ring on it. Those two are made for each other.

2. Zelda and Link – BEFORE CHACHI GETS ON MY ASS, LET ME EXPLAIN! Those two are made for each other and their love, especially during the Ocarina of Time. I would have put them at #1 but when you find out why they’re number two, you will understand.

Legend of Zelda is a game about love. There is nothing wrong with coming in second in this game of love. Heck, Zelda (to me) is the best romantic video game series from top to bottom. There’s nothing that says love like saving the Princess. None. Zelda was made for Link. Link was made for Zelda. They both knew it and made for great story telling, which is why they are in a way higher spot than Mario and Peach.

Also this (Start it at 0:59)

But what beat Link and Zelda, you may ask?

1. Kafei and Anju – As I said, the Legend of Zelda series was riddled with Romance wherever you go and, honestly, when I think of Romance in Video Games, the two names that keep popping up weren’t even main characters in the game. This was a sidequest in Majora’s Mask! In fact, this was one of the most emotional scenes in any game that I’ve played! The longest sidemission in the game is one of the most heart wrenching moments.

You had to get everything just right for everything to make this happen. Go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Heck, it takes the last second, the very last second, for the two to find their love for each other and is one of the sadder moments in video games. Their love and Kafei’s complicated scenario made me want to go back and forth to FINISH THAT PART because that’s what love is, people, it’s loving someone on the inside and out. It’s not just banging the closest thing or saving the princess over and over again because the Princess just so happens to be extremely hot.

That part of the game is what games are made of and would be a movie itself.

That…or you can help the hand wipe its butt with their love, if you don’t care. It’s up to you, jerk.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

If I missed any couples, leave it in the comments below.

Nintendo Direct August 7th, 2013 recap.

Earlier today there was a Nintendo Direct broadcast giving the gamers updates on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games that were touched upon at E3.

Not coming to us from a conference room on a random floor at Nintendo’s headquarters instead, a studio, or at least an all white background. It wasn’t E3 or they figured we didn’t care so it wasn’t touched on this time. Instead Iwata got straight to business!

This is just some of the highlights i was excited by the highlights, to watch the full 28 min presentation(despite the opening screen saying 27) Its added to the end of this.

They showed gameplay footage of the newest installment in the Legend of Zelda series A Link between Worlds. Of course this caught my attention as its a sequel to one of my favorite LOZ games of all time, A Link to the Past. Iwata pointed out that its a sequel in that it happens after the first, so Ganon is locked away. The landscape of the game is similar but looks like what would happen of a few decades of time. The Link in the game is most likely an ancestor to the other but not the same. He also pointed out straight from the beginning that the game features not one but two Triforces, one of the light and one of the dark, so im excited to check it out. Following this they previewed graphics from Wind Waker HD. It looks crisper but since the broadcast was not in HD and i wasn’t watching in HD its hard to tell. Iwata also pointed out that they cleaned and sped up the wind actions from the game and finished this section with explaining that Wind Waker takes place before Phantom Hourglass. (which you would know if you bought the Hyrule Historia)

Later in the presentation they touched on the fact that it’s the Year of Luigi. Announcing that for the first time ever Luigi himself would be a playable character in Smash Brothers. No video just a screen shot of the green brother in battle. He then moved on to touch on Mario and Luigi Dream Team pointing out the various dream worlds and features that are in the game.

So while they showed a lot of cool stuff, still nothing other than the price that makes me really want to pick up a Wii U. Maybe when they finally show gameplay footage or announce the Zelda game in production for it, will i be tempted.

Note: the US version would not let me embed it. so this is the uk version for the gist of it all.

What are your thoughts? Excited for the Nintendo yet? Still on the fence? Let us know in the comments below!

Monday funday! or something…

Well it’s Monday here and some other places too I think…. should be at least…. Well, anyhow while the team reads the news and emails and communications what nots here is some items to make Monday bearable for a little bit!

Lets start off with a GTA: Vice City done in Commodore 64! Enjoy this is the entire last mission done in this style.

Pure awesomeness.

Also, Courtesy of Link Ponders how the Gerudo’s have the one male child every 100 years…. (this is explained as the rest of the males in the society are kidnapped from other places but the born children are all females except for the one male every century. Still Funny!)

So laugh at these things, and we will be back at 10 with real news!

Game 85: Joust

Williams Electronics
Williams is one of those companies that showed the world that you don’t always have to be a single focus company. They started as a pinball machine company and grew from there. Joining the arcade gaming market with their hit Defender in 1980, they brought in a few new people to provide a few new ideas.

Using the same technology developed for defender they created the game Joust. Designer John Newcomer wanted to create a flying game that avoided the space theme which was fairly common at the time.

So Joust put players in a platformer featuring a Yellow Knight riding a Flying Ostrich. Jumping platform to platform staying up away from the lava the player would face waves of on coming enemies.  The birds is what prompted the deviation from the standard 8 direction joy stick. By limiting this the game became more realistic.  pressing the single button controlled the wing flapping. Battles are decided by which rider made the higher contact.

Once again a simple game concept but a huge hit in the arcades.

Chachi Says: I however wasn’t a big fan. Not my bag.
