Mobile Monday Review: Stick Death!

Welcome to a new week! Here at Insert Coin a new week means a new Mobile Monday Review! So let’s review a game, shall we? Mobile Monday Review: Stick Death!

TitleGame: Stick Death

Developer: VOVO-STUDIO

Platform: iOS and Android

Object:

You are given a room full of stick people and the objective is too kill them all by making it look like an accident. Pressing different objects in the room at the right time will cause a poorly drawn death that most times will trigger another event to cause another death. Simple enough, right? So you’d think!

LevelOverviewGame play:

Each level you are given 5 or 6 stick people that have important meetings with their makers. You click different parts of the environment to cause “accidents” and eliminate the people on the level. There are some deaths that can only be triggered by an earlier one. For example, when a guy gets crushed sliding door, another will get up to go get help and gets crushed by a ceiling fan. The game itself seems simple, but triggering the other deaths or figuring out how the stick people die creates an entertaining puzzle to figure out.

SuccessThe bad part of this game is that the simplistic nature meant that the developers of the game probably didn’t put as much time into the game as it required. The timing mechanism and the touch response is off, so that it takes several attempts to get it right when you actually did it right the first time. They also skimped on the other aspects of the game, such as a save function. So every time you go to play the game, it’s from the beginning.

Graphics and Sound:

The graphics and sound of this game (as you can imagine) are extremely simplistic. As you can tell by the artwork in the pictures, there isn’t much to it. However, you can’t expect a game called Stick Death to have top of the line graphics and music. The sound matches the graphics: super simplistic. Not really necessary for the game since you don’t play it for very long.

DeathsOverall:

Overall, it’s a simple game that doesn’t take up much space. The replay value of the game isn’t very high. Starting over from the beginning each time is enough for any player to grow bored of the first few levels. By the time you get to the later levels you don’t really have a desire to play the game anymore. The almost non-existent graphics and sound are too minor to even account for anything in the game. Its not a bad game if you are looking for something quick to play in the line at the store or the bank. However, it’s not the type of game that you put a long of time into. It’s a middle-of-the-road game. Not outstanding, Not overly terrible. I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
