Chachi Says Console Review: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate!

Welcome to another Chachi Says Console review: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate! Pausing my vacation to throw up a review of the latest edition of Assassin’s Creed game for all of you. Assassin’s Creed is one of the few games that make me want to buy a new system for and i did. My main worry about doing so is wondering if the game is worth it. It is. 100 percent worth it as far as Assassin’s creed games go. I am going to do my best to not spoil any major plot lines in the game while doing this. Lets get to it!

Game: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Developer: Ubisoft

Platform: Xbox One

Relive the Memory of an assassin in history to stop the templar attempts at world domination.

Game Play:

If you are up to date on your Assassin’s Creed games then you know since Desmond there hasn’t been an up front out of Animus character. This does not change here you are playing yet another unknown person helping the assassin’s stop the current day Templars by reliving past assassins. This time the game takes place in London 1868. For the first time you play as assassin brother and sister Jacob and Evie Frye looking to take back London from templar control for the first time in 100 years. You are able to switch between the two and roam the streets as whichever sibling you want. Which i think is a great adjustment to the game series allowing you to play a strong female lead.

evieAll of the side missions and collection quests are still here with an assortment of npc characters to help you along the way as long as you help them as usual. (My favorite being Robert Topping aka “Bookie Bob” he controls the fight clubs and races throughout the city.) The gang aspect of the series has returned allowing you to reclaim the city as you go all from the constantly rolling train headquarters through different aspects. Gang headquarter, stopping child labor and kidnapping criminals for arrest help you claim back the city.

The free run aspect has been tweaked a bit adding different buttons for up and down travel which stops from the many accidental jumps and death falls. The introduction of a zip line gun allows for quicker free run travel and makes you feel like an assassin spider man (in my opinion) making it more fun to travel the rooftops. There is no ship travel or just plain horse travel in this entry but it has been replaced with Horse and carriage travel. Allowing you to travel the city in this method as a pre car GTA style. You have to remember that it is london so be sure to drive on the correct side of the road. Yes, i am speaking from experience, i spent 10 mins getting irritated because there was alway oncoming traffic….

The usual introduction of historic characters continue as you help Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria, Karl Marx and more accomplish the things they are are known for as well as a glitch in the animus memory that allows you to help Winston Churchill fight WW1.acgp1Ubisoft also added in a skills upgrade section allowing you to grow a bit at a time as you see fit for each character, and gang skill upgrade to help maintain control of the city. This adds to the crafting aspect of the game making it harder to decide what you want to concentrate your money and resources on in the game.

Sound and Graphics:

The sound and graphics are exactly what they need to be. The update to the graphics to match the current gen console are right on point. The sound and music from the time period provide a completely immersive environment for you to enjoy. The attention to detail in the graphics of this game will be noticed. i spent a lot of time looking for real life locations in 1868.

Overall, the game play, story, sound and graphics are exactly what you are expecting on this gen of Assassin’s Creed games. The details along with the changes in the right elements of game play make for an enjoyable game from start to finish. I hope when a new AC game comes out that i find it to be the best entry in the series thus far and it did not let me down. I give this a hard 5 out of 5 and recommend that you get it if you can.

Fav Five Friday: Games To Look For This E3*

*That we already know will be announced.

E3 is inching so close to us we can taste it. In fact, we are three months away from E3 and somewhere Gabe Newell just had a heart attack.

However, let us not waste precious time! June is right around the corner and THIS is your top 5 games to watch forat this year’s E3 event.

Now, the rules are different. Instead of listing 5 things, I am actually going to pick one from each major category (EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony). Let’s begin,  shall we?

MICROSOFT – Minecraft: Story Mode. For those of you who don’t know, Minecraft is now the property of Microsoft so I would not be surprised if this game gets announced at Microsoft’s E3. Also, it will be interesting to see how this game will look and feel, being it’s a story based game based off of a game that’s a free world based game.

SONY – Uncharted 4. This will be needed for a good E3 for Sony, as it was learned earlier this week that Uncharted’s release date was pushed back to 2016. Which blows. Hard. Maybe show some Beta footage along with a commercial. Get me excited to play this game, as I never had a PlayStation when Uncharted was a thing. It will be interesting to see how they turn this negative into a positive.

NINTENDO – (TIE) Zelda and Star Fox. Nintendo has hyped both of these games to no end ever since they were playing the open world Zelda game. I believe this is the time where Nintendo comes out guns a-blazing and shows us EVERYTHING about these two games. I want more, of course. Instead of watching some guy watch a green screen pretending he’s playing, play the game. DO A BARRELL ROLL! Oh God, I hope I actually get to play as Fox this time from the beginning and not ride a pterodactyl or something.

UBISOFT – Guess. I will give you three easy guesses on what I’m excited to see more information about. Show me something from Assassin’s Creed: Victory and my money will be tossed in your general direction, Ubisoft…it’s…it’s probably west. Do I need to tell you how Assassin’s Creed is going to be once Ubisoft announce it and show things from it? Hopefully no bugs, though. We don’t want that. I mean, look at England. LOOK AT IT!

ELECTRONIC ARTS: Mass. Effect. Four. Mass. Effect. Four. Mass. Effect. Four. Last year all we had was conception art, if this year is gameplay footage I will not be able to control my body. At all. I don’t expect gameplay, as it’s still quite possibly in the early early stages of development but man…I am a big Mass Effect fan and I don’t even know what to expect from this game. Do my choices in the first three games matter? Is Shepard in this? Is he not? Is this a prequel? Sequel? Do I play as a Prothean? Gah! Just tell me already!

Raise the anchor! Free the sails! Assassins Creed 4 Review!

Raise the anchor! Free the sails! Assassins Creed 4 Review.

Well i have emerged from the depths of pixels and action that is on my tv screen. According to Raptr (game playing tracker. Great stuff! Chachisays add me!) I’ve spent 39 hours playing this game on my vacation thus far. Broken down for you it took me 28-30 hours to beat the main story lines of the game which is less than 50 percent of the completion. I know right? Its a huge game and thats not an understatement.

For the Spoiler free review continue reading.

For the Spoiler filled review Click here.

Spoiler free: this will cover the basics and my thoughts and opinions with as little spoilers as possible.

Let me start by stating that Pirates is quite possibly the best class Ubisoft could’ve picked for a new installment of the Assassins series. Pirates being rogues with an out for themselves nature is shown and shown well from the start of the game. (for more on this go to the spoiler version.)

The graphics of this game are amazing using every bit of power the current gen of systems have to bring you an adventure that you will get trapped in and enjoy every minute of.  The vastness of the map will encourage you more than ever to use the quick travel points or you’ll spend hours sailing the ocean blue. While thats not a bad thing, once you get through the game you’ll want to skip the travel to accomplish your goal.

The controls and gameplay are pretty much the same as before with improvements.  The proper mix of all the previous games the sneakiness of 1 with the hack and slash of 2 and expansions. There are moments that you can hack and slash through a mission and will have too. However there are moments where thats not possible at all and you’ll spend the time redoing every step if you try it.

Back to when i said i’m only 54% through the game. Its huge. There is so much to do for 100. From teaching your crew new songs to collecting items to improve yourself and your ship. You’ll find yourself trying to decide which is more important and spending your game money there. The connection to uPLay and the Ubisoft servers is a lot of fun as well. There are many things that you can do and get from the connection. If you played the previous versions while connected you immediately get access to the final outfits earned in the old games. Through some tricky Aminus programing you can sail the seas in Conners outfit from 3.

Overall the game is what was promised and more. The vast adventure will suck you in and make you want to stay plugged in until you fall asleep at your chair. Its extremely easy to get lost and lose a large amount of hours to this game.  Said from experience. So worth the full price and more! I give this game a perfect 5 out of 5 and cannot wait for the next one.

Should successful game series stop before they go too far?

If you said no to the title of this then you’re kidding yourself. Its human nature to want to make as much money off of something before its too late. I’m not talking about the one or two off games in a series that aren’t as good as others in the series. I’m talking about releasing games because the company feels like its an easy way to boost the income. Unfortunately, they are usually right.

Nintendo is an example of everything bad i’ve said so far. Super Mario World 3d for the Wii U features a new Mario suit that allows characters to put on a cat suit. Not to limit it to the cat suit but Super Mario Sunshine, where you run around and clean? Really Nintendo? While i agree its a good idea to teach kids to clean up the environment not necessarily the best premise for a game. The Cat suit makes it seem like you put a bunch of new features in a hat and picked one out. While i love Nintendo and will continue to support and have hope Maybe its time to finally license out your properties and let some others have a chance with it.

On the other side of the coin Ubisoft announced recently that the extremely popular Assassins Creed series already has an end. In an interview with Eurogamer the director of Assassins Creed 4 said the following:

[We have multiple development teams, then we have the brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc. So there is an overall arc, and each iteration has its place inside this. We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is. But of course [Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot] announced we are a yearly title, we ship one game a year. So depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we’ve given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end.]

Ubisoft however has been known to have multiple teams rotating in and out on several of the franchise games and has multiple games in production. Taking as much time as the particular game requires to be innovative. I think the system has worked well. Each game has been better than the last and has given me and a lot of other gamers something to look forward too with each new game in the series. Or else we will end up with games like Super Mario 3d and Final Fantasy 9….

What are your thoughts? Should gaming series have an ending from the beginning or do you think it should be free range? Let us know in the comments below!

Iranians no longer able to play Blizzard’s online games.

Lets start with this statement from Blizzard themselves:

“What we can tell you is that United States trade restrictions and economic sanction laws prohibit Blizzard from doing business with residents of certain nations, including Iran. Several of you have seen and cited the text in the Terms of Use which relates to these government-imposed sanctions. This week, Blizzard tightened up its procedures to ensure compliance with these laws, and players connecting from the affected nations are restricted from access to
Blizzard games and services.

This also prevents us from providing any refunds, credits, transfers, or other service options to accounts in these countries. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and will happily lift these restrictions as soon as US law allows.”

Now, not to get all political but this is completely normal. Trade embargos happen all the time across the world. The issue is what lies ahead. Blizzard pulls out the a-hole card. You know that card you pull out when you are being a complete and utter a-hole.

According to Blizzards terms of service this was supposed to happen from the beginning but due to them not enforcing it people have been playing it. However, now that the government is forcing them to follow the trade guidelines Blizzard said pfffffffffffffft and went back to their own terms and said that “Blizzard is unable to provide refunds, credits, transfers, or other service options to accounts in Iran and will happily lift these restrictions as soon as US law allows.” Dick Move.

In case you are curious here’s the rest of the list of countries that can’t play these games:

– Colombia
– Côte d’Ivoire/Ivory Coast
– Cuba
– Democratic Republic of the Congo
– Libya
– Republic of the Congo
– Somalia
– Myanmar
– North Korea
– Sudan
– Syria

Now, without a doubt this is all because of the government pushing for compliance from all companies operation within the US. However, to not refund the 238,761 rials per person per month is a dick move.

Have you ever wanted to run your own arcade? If you’re reading this and you say no, then you’re either lying or you know better than to run a business in a dying industry. However, to run an arcade in their high points or even the resurgence in the ’90s would’ve been a blast.

Some of the best times I had was when my Grandpa owned and operated an arcade. I’m not sure that an arcade was the best business for the cheap guy to own(No, seriously he was the type of old flea marketing guys that would buy us Happy Meals but keep the toys because he believed they were worth money.) but he would often leave my uncle in charge and we would spend an afternoon beating games after jacking up the credits.

Well, Soon you can own and operate your own arcade and never leave the house!

The game is supposed to take you through the up and downs of the arcade industry, the rise in the early 80s, the late 80s crash and the re rise in the 90s. As is the case with these games price, place and industry all factor into how your arcade does. The customer base is made up of Xbox Live Avatars(Non Player Characters). The success of the individual arcade machine are impacted by different things as well. Home release, and classic status both go into deciding whether or not the machine will do well in the arcade. As time goes on the Machines and gaming progress just like they do in real life.

Firebase Industries hasn’t released a date, price or release means yet at this time but its only a matter of time because they said it should be finished in October.
